  • Seven Words That Desribe Me:

Creative, Fun, Energetic, Observant, Friendly, Extroverted, Responsible

  • Best Advice I Ever Received:

Don’t cut off your nose to spite your face.

  • Hobbies:

I like to go digging for new vinyl, sewing, thrifting and vintage shopping with my husband. I have quite the urban garden outside of my apartment on the patio. I'm learning how to camp!

  • Something No One Would Guess By Looking At Me:

I do all my own (and my husband's) car repairs.

  • Favorite Music Artists:

Nathaniel Rateliff and the Night Sweats, Leon Bridges, Sylvan Esso, Diana Ross, James Taylor, The Monkees, Billie Holliday, Pitbull, and Raffi (I work with children during the week!)

  • Genre Preferences / Specialties:

I travel across the country DJing jazz for dancers. I love it, I'm good at it, and I enjoy the challenge of reading different dance floors in different regions. I tend to DJ indie stuff more when I throw parties on my own- I know my crowd. When I'm out spinning vinyl somewhere in Minneapolis I get a little more freedom- you'll hear some soul, some 1960's sunshine pop, or French yéyé. I love how weddings offer an opportunity to bring all of my music expertise together as I match the crowd!

  • My Relationship with Music:

The first time I remember getting excited about music was when I was five years old listening to a cassette tape with my family on a Saturday morning. Saturday mornings were for cleaning, and my parents blasted music so loud you could hear it in every part of the house. My favorite group was The Monkees—which as a child, I initially thought it was real live monkeys that could sing. I brought that cassette tape in for kindergarten show-and-tell for weeks! I started learning how to play music when I was five, and have continually sought out new instruments (piano, flute, piccolo, guitar, ukulele, saxophone- currently working on clarinet and accordion, and just acquired a trumpet.) I remember the first CD I got, and the first big purchase I ever saved up for was a six disc CD player. I remember the awe of going to my first show, and the ringing ears I had afterwards. I remember being on stage and performing for the first time. I remember my first time at First Ave. For me music is a very personal experience, but I have found that with mastery I can bring others into that experience. This is why I DJ--it allows me to share the music and experience with others.
