Landmark Center

Landmark Center

Landmark Center is a unique event center sponsored by Ramsey County and managed by the not-for-profit, “Minnesota Landmarks.”  With beautiful curved, high ceilings and a plethora of arched doorways and windows, this event center is sure to wow not just you, but your guests as well.

Creation of this historic landmark began in 1892 and construction wasn’t completed until 1902.  In the beginning, this building served as the federal courthouse and post office for all of the upper Midwest.

When you pull up to this historic building, you will see pink granite ashlar and a hipped red tile roof. Because of the snow, the area gets in the winter; there are plenty of turrets, gables, and dormers with steeply peaked roofs. The corners are cylindrical that tower over every projection. One of these towers houses a clock; it’s truly a magical place to hold an event!

Inside the Landmark Center, you will see a five story courtyard with skylights on the 20-foot ceilings.  All these details are done with marble and carved mahogany. This event center is truly one of a kind, and truly historic.

A fun piece of history is that, over time, tenants and people did not take care of this building.  Government issued paint which had been painted over the marble and mahogany and much of the building was in disarray.  Thanks to a group of history lovers and restoration professionals, the building was brought back to its glory in 1979.

Whether it’s for a wedding, anniversary, business meeting, conference, dance recital, play, or party- the Landmark Center is sure to wow your guests, and even give them a slice of the area’s history.,

You must see this event center in person to truly appreciate the beauty and history. Call today to schedule your tour and to speak to one our events coordinators.
