The Germanic – American Institute is classically beautiful. Nestled right in the heart of downtown St. Paul, this historic 109-year-old Georgian style mansion encapsulates ornate old world charm that is uncommon in the wedding industry. This one of a kind venue will not disappoint even the most fastidious of brides. The image of a bride gliding down the central stairway on the way to meet her groom is enough to win over any couple. The mansion’s dining rooms hold stately, hand-carved fireplaces as if the wooden columns, dentil moldings, and finely detailed window casings weren’t enough to wow you. All of this historical charm plays itself beautifully to any wedding reception theme.

Wedding ceremonies held outside are among the luscious greenery, decedent flower beds, and majestic oak trees of the “Haus” grounds. It is far too easy to lose yourself in space and time, allowing yourself to get wrapped up in the visual scenery and your wedded bliss – which is precisely how it should be. However, in the event of inclement weather, the Germanic American Institute can move your wedding ceremony indoors with ease. The seamless trade from outdoors to indoors will have no ill effect on the romantic notions of your wedding day.

The mansion can accommodate a guest list of 220 for buffet styled dinner or a modest 130 for a sit-down dinner in their three dining rooms on the main floor. GAI has their own “In-Haus” catering service that would be delighted to create a food and drink menu for your wedding reception. The third floor is where you can loosen up your tie or let your hair down after you dine. Here you will find the grandest of ballrooms, complete with a staffed bar.

The Germanic – American Institute will only book one event per day, so you do not need to worry about sharing any space with others. While the Institute doesn’t have an in-house band or DJ, they will gladly provide you with contact information of services that are familiar with the venue.
