Alright men, now your time to shine! Whether you’ve been heavily involved in the planning process of your wedding or not up to this point. This is where you really get to take the bull by the horns and make some big decisions that are going to affect the overall look of your all your wedding photos. A wedding can be a great time to invest in some nice dress wear that can last you longer than just one night. In this article, we are going to share with you some do’s and don’ts for you and your groomsman’s attire.
Communicate
I cannot stress enough how important it is for you to communicate well with your groomsmen about what they should wear and what they shouldn’t it’s vital if you want to have a uniform look in all your pictures. Let them know what you are planning to wear so they don’t “one-up” you in their dress by mistake. If you are going to wear a vest, a different colored tie, or even a boutonniere let the guys in your wedding party know that you are doing something slightly different than the rest of them so that in the photos you stand out a bit. If your groomsmen know this, they certainly won’t do anything to compete with your attire on that day.
What Colors?
Well, that’s really for you to decide based on what you know about the colored theme of your wedding. If you’re not sure what color or tones to use, you can always ask your spouse for help and ideas but don’t leave all the work up to them. Be first class and take responsibility for that part of your wedding. Now once you’ve got some colors in mind now we can start to work on figuring out which outfits will work best. You choose what you please but I’ve always recommended not wearing colored shirts underneath your suits. Choose white or a light off-shade. In 25 years when the fashions change, you’ll thank yourself. If you want to spice things up with color, find a good pocket square, tie, bow tie, boutonniere or suspenders.
Rentals
If the budget for clothing is an issue then rentals can be a good way to go. If you are willing to spend the extra money or have your wedding party spend the extra money buying a tailored suit is the way to go. Rentals are often made of cheaper materials to make dry cleaning easier for them to be reused. Also, often the fit can be off when it comes to rentals and fit is so important to the overall look. If you can purchase your suit, do it. It will be a good investment for you and your groomsmen. If the price is an issue, consider rentals but know you’ll likely be sacrificing the overall comfort of the suit and the overall look of the suit due to its fit.
Gifts for Groomsmen
A good combo to give as a gift to your groomsmen can be a matching tie and pocket square set. A good rule of thumb is that your groomsmen all where the same or similar colored suits. Truly either is okay ask long as they are at least similar. A matching tie with a pocket square can be such a good combo because it helps make the wedding party uniform. However, the groom should have something that indicates or separates him in the photos as mentioned above. If you like the idea of custom things, you can always get pocket squares with you’re the groomsmen initials stitched on them or initialed cuff links as well. Both can be a great addition if you’re willing to spend a little bit more.
